FOX TELEVISION STATIONS, NBC AND TELEMUNDO OWNED STATIONS GROUP, UNIVISION, PEARL TV, AND SPECTRUMCO COMMIT TO THE INTRODUCTION OF ATSC 3.0
New York, NY – October 17, 2018 — At the 2018 NAB Show New York, executives from FOX Television Stations; NBC and Telemundo Owned Stations Group; Univision; TEGNA, Inc. (for Pearl TV), and Nexstar Media Group (for SpectrumCo) today announced their collaborative effort and support for the introduction of ATSC 3.0. The ATSC 3.0 next-generation broadcast TV standard is designed to greatly enhance over-the-air services for viewers while bringing together broadcast and broadband functionality to give audiences more content and choice.

Washington, D.C. – October 16, 2018 – In an update to a breakthrough 2017 national research study, consumers continue to show exceptionally strong interest in the Next-Gen Television service (also known as ATSC 3.0) that will offer the programming of free live over-the-air TV (such as local news, live sports, programming from ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and other broadcast networks) and adds improved features that can enhance consumer’s viewing experience.
PEARL TV WHITE PAPER SUGGESTS OVER-THE-AIR TV ADVANTAGES FOR CARS OF THE FUTURE
PHOENIX, Ariz., October 15, 2018 — Television broadcasters working together to advance the launch of next-gen TV broadcasting are planning an early 2019 trial of the mobile video capabilities of the new broadcast TV standard, in concert with Avis Budget Group.
“We’ve identified several potential use cases for television-delivered signals in a passenger car, and from basic reception of over-the-air audio and video signals to a range of interactive capabilities, since the new broadcast TV standard can easily accommodate reception in a moving vehicle. Planning is underway now to launch the first in-car tests in early 2019,” said Anne Schelle, managing director of Pearl TV, the broadcast TV group that is managing the Phoenix Model Market project.
FIVE MORE TV BROADCASTERS GRANTED AUTHORITY TO TEST ATSC 3.0 SIGNALS IN PHOENIX MODEL MARKET
Phoenix, AZ — October 11, 2018 — The Federal Communications Commission has now granted requests from five commercial and public TV broadcasters for permission to test next-gen TV broadcasts from the transmission facilities of Univision’s KFPH-CD, which began ATSC 3.0 broadcasts last March.
“We are delighted to learn this week that the FCC is granting authority for ABC affiliate KNXV, NBC affiliate KPNX, CBS affiliate KPHO, Independent KTVK, and PBS station KAET to utilize the transmission facilities of ATSC 3.0 station KFPH-CD in collaborative testing. This is a very positive step forward and we are grateful for the authority to move the Phoenix Model Market project forward,” said Anne Schelle, managing director of Pearl TV, which is coordinating the Phoenix test market.
